Because of very spin friendly pitches, touring teams don't take Indian test series very seriously. Only Australia to certain extent plan to fight with some net practice or adding 3 spinners in final 11. But England, South Africa, New Zealand don't even plan to compete.
In order to raise standard of border gavaskar test series, India should fix venues for this series. There should not be more than 5-6 venues for the same. One venue should have same type of surface everytime. Eden gardens should be a host of one test match. Other venues can be Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Dharamshala, etc. Chennai Delhi can be considered.. but not nagpur Ranchi or Indore. Dharamshala just to add some variety in atmosphere and soil quality…

Australia should have won this they deserved to lose the first game. Poor cricket from Usman,Smith,Renshaw, HandsComb,Carey, Cummins &Marnus cost Australia the game. None of the balls they got out from were world-class balls. It was reckless batting they were scared of getting out so they played poor trying to score runs. All they had to do was play a Smith like innings none of them did this even smith they were trying to play shots on a turning pitch every ball.
