That's a lot of Florida houses with no insurance coverage, sitting in "harm's way". Gonna be plenty of problems for DeSantis to deal with, in between trips to Iowa. Already calling for the Biden/Federal "cavalry" to ride to the rescue! How humbling!

Not goanna be as bad as they are telling you. Andrew survivor here and recently Ian. After the storm is usually the worse part of it. No modern conveniences are annoying but you'll survive. Don't worry about water so much. People come from far and wide to donate. Coastlines are the worst part of these storms. Best tip is to have a small fridge, 5k btu window unit and very small generator to run them, Fuel is key so you need something to keep running that generator that doesn't use much fuel. Just alternate between the two. Get fuel in your vehicle and gas tanks. A small gas grill is key to eat and you'll do better than most if you take my pro tip. Listen take a look around your neighbor hood. You see those homes built pre 70s? Look at the original structure still intact and same windows, doors open lanais lol. This allllll hype! The local government doesn't want to risk its emergency employees understood. So they will tell you to leave the areas that you live in because its dangerous but truth is they don't want to rescue anyone. Its much easier this way for them. Problem is it makes it more scary for us all thinking its gonna be terrible. Its not seriously its not. Falling trees inland is what happens the most. Never seen a broken old window from wind alone. Trees yes be carful with trees inland. Mobile home do tip over seen that also. But usually the smaller ones and towable. Get one mile away from water lines and you should be ok. Good luck out there.
