The vast majority of these "self-defense" products are only going to encourage people to get hurt/killed by standing their ground. The simplest and most effective thing anyone can do for self defense is to simply turn and run away.
What really pisses me off is that "double bladed knuckle knife" thing. That is so ludicrously impractical and dangerous to the user. The best way to use that is to throw it at your attacker, because if you're actually in range to use it as a knuckle duster, you're way too close. And your natural arm movement will make it more likely that you'll stab YOURSELF with the damn thing.
The ring claw and tactical pens are only somewhat less impractical because they give up your most valuable asset in order to be used: range. Also, are you really going to tell me that when you're grappling with your opponent for dear life, you'll have the presence of mind to reach into your pocket/purse to grab it?
Sword canes are illegal nearly everywhere. Learn Baritsu and just carry a standard cane, if you can justify it.
The taser light and tigerlight are things you need to grab from somewhere first before using, and they're pretty conspicuous and only useful at very close range. If your attacker sees them come out, they can just bullrush you.
The pepper spray bag is cute, but it takes practice to aim from the hip. How much money are you willing to spend on the spray to git gud at it?
The little revolver and the pepperball gun are the most "practical" of these items, since they have an effective range outside of 25 feet. That gives you time to pull them out and aim before the attacker can close in. But they're still expensive and require significant training to be accurate. By contrast, using your legs to run away is free, and just as effective 99% of the time.
