The winter storm that swept across the country plunged Texas into abnormally low temperatures, affecting everyone from Texans to… bats. Over 1,600 bats were taken into an animal shelter and nursed back to health during the storm. We speak with the director of the Houston Humane Society about how they made the miraculous rescue.

You have to be really careful helping bats & it's best if you're vaccinated for rabies. Generally any bat on the ground means it's sick, injured or something like this case.
I'd still try to help them though because of how much the environment needs them. Plus they're really cute too.
