Do math folks
I don’t trust Americans on the ground driving so why would I trust them in the air in a hot air balloon!? 🤦🏻♂️
The NTSB should require parachutes like life preservers on boats. At least you'd have a chance. Or paraglider suits. STUPID HUMAN TRICKS
Dropping so many skydivers at once is dangerous for the balloon. Surprised that the pilot allowed that.
You'd think they come up with a backup safety like a parachute that can deploy at the top of the balloon if it flattens out or of the burner doesn't work ect. Something that can slow down or steer the balloon if normal function seize. Heck, a self-inflating raft to soften the impact… something.
Very very dangerous and super risky.
when the air outside is just as hot as the air inside, there is no lift
I always wonder why people get on these things?! So sad.
I'm surprised the industry hasn't implemented helmets for passengers and some sort of airbag device. Skydiving seems safer: you know the direction you're headed and there are backup chutes.
They didn't have a parachute each?
My deepest condolences to their families and friends. I'm sorry that the New Year has started out like this for them.
This is very sad!! Love watching these Balloons!!! Ones who went to Heaven May they RIP!! One who is hurt!! Pray for full recovery!!💕💕
Why would anyone go up in the air so high in a basket designed to hold breakfast croissants ?
rest in peace
These accidents are very rare… If they weren't, they would get literally no coverage outside of the immediate area… The professional that was interviewed shared some very interesting information I wasn't aware of… Of course, while I don't own or pilot one, I have only been up iin them as a passenger, so why would I… I never considered a maximum vertical limit… Fairly enlightening… RIP to the those who died in this unfortunate mishap…
I'm going on a balloon ride tonight, too be honest with you, but I'm suicidal anyway😮
I'd never do this at all I don't understand why people do
-Protect the unborn from the meatgrinder of samsara
All of these possibilities can you take the risk anyway you dummies
Only white people!
🙏🏿
Wow, I can’t believe something like this happened. It sounds so safe to go up in the sky in a big balloon and then jump. It’s not like these things ever crash, run into powerlines, catch on fire, I mean, it’s unheard of.
As soon as I heard 8 people did a skydive from the balloon I figured that caused the crash just the weight shift & I know nothing about how to operate a balloon it’s just common sense!
that's the risks they take
Uh, never gonna risk that death…. no everest, no wingsuits, and avoid american airlines ( i have experienced engine failure after takeoff a week after crash killing all aboard in 99). Just saying
over a century of hot air ballon tech, and they still dont have fall protection, or secondary lift devices like i dont know, a parachute?????
Too many people on balloon. I've been (4 of us altogether w man in control😊)on a balloon in napa,ca and couldnt wait to get off
It sounds like the mistake was skydiving from a hot air balloon? What a tragedy. Hot air ballooning is usually pretty safe.
Guess I'll never go into a hot air balloon…….. just story after story after story and it seems no matter how many tragedies people will always continue to use hot air balloons no matter what.
RIP to the victims.
Prayers 🙏 but ski diving from an air balloon is crazy and dangerous
Having them sky dive off it is like dumping most of the ballast in one drop.
Prayers for the families of the victims
So people that were doing a dangerous past-time hobby, were killed doing that dangerous hobby?🤷 That's a risk you take….and one day your ticket will get punched

I don't think tax-payer funded government employees should act on behalf of insurance companies. Let them hire investigators if they want to assign blame.
not the first time and not the last time neither
Sky divers took a balloon ride and jumped out not knowing that would make the balloon too lite with the remaining people left in? The story is a little confusing.
Sounds exactly like what happened in that movie about the hot air balloon disaster.
another Chinese Spy
Balloon. Call President Biden. He’ll know what to do.
Are people still doing this?
Unprofessional.
That's just natural selection
too much weight being released from balloon to quickly. Pilot of balloon should have known.
