The last thing you want to do when flying low from Arizona or Nevada across the desert is hit the 11,500' elevation Los Angeles mountains or San Diego mountains in a Snowstorm..!
The insane Wind & Weather changes from San Diego Desert sea floor to 6500' elevation San Diego Mountains is nothing to play with.
(Luckily they were down around 4000ft. Up Near the top of The Laguna Mountains there's 3ft. of Snow and was in the low 20's That would have made it even more ridiculous)

Sad this happened yet sadder they had no idea where it was. I fly every day. Just drones. Yet when I crash I can usually find my drone within a hour.Weather it be by remote id, or a live tracking via radar, I know where I am at all times. I also fly in the mountains as well in snow. It wasn't the weather that brought that bird down. Condolences to the families.
