Social Security is in danger because the Republicans are trying to cut it for all Americans, especially the elderly Americans.

many of us remember the massive rate hike of 1985; this created surpluss beyond imagining which (of course) went to the General Treasury for typical pork spending (and has so every yr). At that time it was said, "This will fix the system for next 37 yr". Now the Gov't says, system can't go broke; no fooling—simply print more money to cover the monthly benefit payments. Fiscal yrs end 30 Sept; why wait until Jan?

Well the first place SS needs to start is with these families that have never paid into SS yet claim their child/children have a disability and they're receiving welfare.. Can't have yur cake and eat it too.. Another place is these people that are on drugs and can't work cuz they can't pass a drug test.. 🙄 That'd definitely free up money.. I could go on SMFH..

Woohoo I get a whole $68. And now they're going to cut my food stamps. So why did they bother. Simply not enough. They spend more at one dinner then I do in a whole month. This Administration is not taken care of anyone but themselves.

social security is hooked up the cost of living. it's a good and a bad thing. the more you get the more things are costing. this isn't Joe Biden being kind to us it's the way he has effed up the economy. we had low raises with Trump and low raises in prices.
The cost of living increase does not keep up with the inflation rate. I am happy to be getting an increase but it will not make much difference because of inflation.
Okay that means I get $85 more. Great. That means I've reached the limit for my $60 a month food stamps. So food stamps will be no more. I'm within 200 of losing Medicaid. So I may need to pay larger co-pays. That $85 extra means I will pay more in HUD housing. Do I really get that $85 raise? NO. Not really. Instead I loose over 150 a month
What they should do is stop giving people $2000 each kid at the end of the year when they claim their taxes and give that to people who actually need it Just saying. 8.7% raise on my SSI will only give me 980 each month. It’s a goddamn joke the way they’re doing people.

A secret about COL increases. For the most vulnerable those in poverty. The COL increase evaporates those living in HUD apartments. The rent is increased to absorb always all of the so needed funds. What little us left goes to energy increase at facility. A common joke among those recipients " oh I can buy a extra roll of toilet paper " . Also since the poverty level which housing relies on has not increased in several years which everyone knows should aline with inflation. Why is this injustice not know?
