Campaign For 4-Day Work Week Gains Momentum

The campaign for a 4-day work week gains momentum after “The Great Resignation” saw 47 million Americans quit their jobs in 2021 due to burnout. According to 4 Day Week Global, 63% of businesses say a shorter week made it easier to attract and retain talent and 78% of employees claimed they were happier.

  1. Republicans are such absolute trash. When's that civil war?

  2. It would be nice to have a shorter work week. Especially for anyone performing hard labor. Sadly, I don’t think anyones schedule would change, it would only be 8 hours of overtime pay a week. Basically a slight pay raise

  3. When I worked a job with a 4 day work week policy, it was amazing! 3 days off is close enough to a vacation, you almost kinda/want to go back to work

  4. "Why is Covid in China Spreading Again? because the Covid factory in Taiwan hasn't been destroyed… that's why U.s + Nato is trying to protect Taiwan!!! ….. So,When will the justice Destroy FACTORI VIRUS in Taiwan ??? like destroy in ukraine ???… Go go go… Save The World!!!!"

  5. This sounds like it helps office workers. And leaves out labourers and many other types of employment.

  6. I worked 4/10 hour days for the State of California in the late 80's into the 90's. loved it and it was the best of both Worlds, less drive time, more time with family and still got the work done!!!

  7. Honestly if they switch to a four-day week and that should be fine for every job and and for the jobs that he was talking about garbage man and so on and so forth those kind of people that are dated a people should also have a four-day week with a chance of getting overtime and also get call-in pay on that day if the company needs them to work it

  8. we need this in new mexico

  9. 4 days a week should be equated with the reduced compensation. Compensation is called "compensation" for the work, and if 4-days' work can't complete the 5-days' workload, then the compensation should be reduced proportionately. That is an equity.
Also since every business has customers to take care of, 4-day workload should cover the customers' need to contact 24 hours/7days.
Without customers, what does any business need to do?
This should be a discussion topic from 3 sides: from employer's business strategy, from the needs of customers, from the working sides. Compensation should be determined according to the workload. Do not expect that you can get the same amount of salary or wage that was set for the 5-day work, by working 4 days.

  10. America is so far behind compared to the rest of the world.(read: 'socialist' countries)

  11. This is a GREAT idea! More time for SELFCARE!!

  12. Funny how its rich old people saying this is a bad idea… fk off… give us the 4 day work week…

  13. Remote work ftw, 2:00 yes outcomes this was always the case lol

  14. i can barely make ends meet as it is. how is pulling another 8 to 9 hours out of my check going to help?

  15. Why work cross the border and everything is Free

  16. I told my job at some point I'm only available 4 days, because overtime is not allowed. So being understaffed I would end up staying late alone in the office. It's unacceptable I would stay after hours late and I did not get paid any overtime at all. But I was told I had to complete my work task regardless. . I had to fight for a 4 day work week and it forced my employer to hire a part time help. I work for a large medical center owned by private equity firm so I don't care what the corporate higher ups think. I refuse to overwork myself and not get paid overtime while the private equity firm that owns us makes their big money. I admit it's hard to get an employer to let you work 4 days. It was for me. But now when I stay late it's only if I choose to and if so I'm not working for free after hours and now I get paid for the total hours I work. I encourage everyone to try and fight for a four day work week.

  17. Oh please! Burnout? Don’t forget- to mention how BIDEN “paid” people NOT TO WORK & stay unemployed…!!!

  18. Business owners aren't just going to give you OT pay at 32+ hours. They'll delegate the work to other employees working different shifts.

  19. 4-Day work week is a good idea but its not feasible for every job sector to implement this model. And it should be 4-day & 40 hour work week i.e employee works 10 hour a day for 4 days a week, if we follow this approach we can get bipartisan support in congress.

  20. The economic hardship, recession, unemployment and the loss of job caused by covid pandemic is enough to push people into financial ventures. I'm taking a trip into investing because I lost so much during this pandemic. Multi creation of wealth is the best strategy to ensure financial sustainability..

  21. I work three 12 hour shifts. I won't have it any other way.

  22. 4 , 8hour days or 4, 10hour days

  23. Pretty cool. College career jobs are going 4 day work weeks and regular jobs are thinking about 32hr work weeks with anything over 32 being paid at time and a half.

If anything this makes people want to college even more!!! Great educated jobs+4 day work weeks+ great pay. Oh man sounds like the dream!

  24. Basic income.
Why , because we all know that there will never be enough jobs to employ the entire world population full time.
Working , is a privilege. You as a responsible citizen , applied your will to aquire various skills and knowledge that has made you valuable to society , so this you as an individual should get paid up to four times more then a person who has not applied them selves .
Up to four times more . Tiers of skills and tiers of pay. Like now , but with a basement .

  25. What a racket.
Great for federal , state, county and municipal employees.
The great liberal " more for less " idea.
Im open 6 so I don' t need any 4 day employees.
    Bye!

  26. Conservatives are for sure against this. They seem to enjoy people being miserable servants to the "market."

  27. Of course a republican would be against a 4 day work week.

  29. So unemployment hasn’t actually dropped… 🤔

  30. It's not a 4 day work week if your working 12 hours a day.

  31. What about 4, 9 hour shifts?
