Russia alone only has a GDP (gross domestic product) that is 15% larger than
Canada. Combined with the Russian Federation it isn't much larger. If
we allow Russia to take back most of the former Soviet Union then
they will be a reckless out of control power again and it will be
very difficult to stop their aggression. Russia at this time can be
easily defeated and kept from causing terror for many years with
little effort.
We must not let Russia take the east and south of Ukraine, with all the
gas & oil reserves in these areas, plus all that exists off
shore. That would expand Russia's economy and aid in their badgering
neighbors. Also this area is a huge part of Ukraine's economy.
The current killing and murders are being commited due to the urging and
monies of several oligarchs of different nations without regard for
humanity, not just Putin.
Putin is a total narcissist. A narcissist can never be negotiated with as
they will cheat and lie even when it isn't necessary. Most of the
world's autocrats are narcissists. Also autocrats are not really
fundamentally hurt by sanctions. The rouble under sanctions is
almost back to the value it had before sanctions.
One night in 1961 I was on my way to Berlin with a first alert NATO Unit
due to Russia wanting all of Berlin. The USSR was a tremendous
problem back then due to economic and military strength. Now is the
time to stop them once and for all time before their spoils make them
strong again.
That night in 1961 we ended up not going in to Berlin. Russia was allowed
to built the Berlin Wall soon afterwards; thereby, imprisoning the
Eastern Block for many horrendous years. Russia was very strong and
powerful then and caused continual terror in governmental politics,
espionage & actions against and within other countries.
Now Putin is trying to establish another reign of terror. Don't let them
pick off one smaller country after another like before or the world
will cry for many more decades without humanity.

Akunin: Oh, it’s pretty evident. The reason that Putin has been so hostile to Ukraine since 2014 is very simple, actually. He sees Ukraine as a threat to his rule. Because if Ukraine – which overthrew its government as a result of a revolution in December 2013 – if democratic Ukraine ever becomes a successful state, it would be a constant temptation for Russians to follow suit, because Russia and Ukraine are very close. What’s happening in Ukraine, Russians watch it.
Putin couldn’t afford Ukraine to become a successful state, he needed it to be a failed state, to show to his people that democracy does not work – that if you go against him, then you’re ruined. And that’s why he attacked Ukraine.
Now of course, he also has this crazy idea of restoring the Soviet Empire. He sees himself as a unifier of the nation, or at least the Slavic peoples like Belarus or Ukraine, that was his general idea. In fact, he is destroying not only this unity, he’s destroying the state of the Russian Federation as well in the process.
