Honestly unless you have a crystal ball that shows only truth, there is nothing you can do to be safe from these kinds of shootings and crime in general. It's the new normal , fearing for your life every time you step out your door. My advice is to find or make a different means of transportation then public transportation of any kind. I know people rely on public forms as a way to get to and from work but you really only have two choices, ride a bike or take your chances on public transportation. I guess you could wear a bullet proof jacket to improve your odds a bit.
