I have been living in China for many years as an expat. I only say China is very modern and high tech in many areas and a lot of people are super rich in big cities. Now it is more modern than the US. By the way, China now is richest nation on Earth accordingly to the western reports like Bloomberg, Yahoo, Mckinley, Business Insider etc. China has a lot of more rich people, skycrapers, cars than any other nations on Earth including the US.

Don't have any dollars to buy the food, goods, gasoline any more, so lock down whole regions based on bogus covid data to slow down domestic demand. This also curtails energy consumption with the blackouts occurring. That would be the only reason for China lockdowns.
