Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum in 1994 declaring Ukraine a free country and it would protect Ukraine's borders from invasion. Where was it said those declarations didn't mean Russia was exempt? No where,. Now Putin has committed War Crimes in Ukraine and he is mad??? Putin's incarceration is never more needed.

Also notice just how quiet China is being in all this. They now see that if they want to move against American interests in the Asia Pacific region, they’ll have 31 other countries to deal with, not to even mention Australia, South Korea, Japan and other Allies in the region not too stoked about China’s territorial ambitions.
Here is a hint for you, Mr. Putin: how about "retaliating" countries' free decision to join any organisation such as NATO, by emulating the factors that are making membership so attractive, such as a free economy, democracy, free speech ect.? Is this in the too hard basket for you, that you feel the need to try forcing countries by destroying them, to "love" you and Russia so much, that they opt to join the Federation? NATO is a DEFENSIVE organisation to protect countries from criminals like you!
Putin would ‘double down’ no matter what the west does.
Putin is making a severe miscalculation of what people are capable of and willing to do. He is severely underestimating the resolve of the United States of America, andbwhat we're willing and capable of doing to defeat stupidity and adversaries. He may be willing to learn the hard way. But his people, his allies may find it a lot harder to stomach. Putin threatens the use of a nuclear tsunami, but the key word is nuclear, and any attack with nuclear or chemicals WILL result in immediate mutual annihilation. All Russian allies immediately become targets by association. China, North Korea, Belarus, Iran, Cuba are obviously on the list. The cowardous acts of shooting innocent unarmed civilians in the back, or bombing helpless children, women and men is a clear indication of a scared childlike individual. Obviously short man syndrome. Instead of creating peace and constructive, meaningful leadership as his legacy, Pukin would rather create destruction and misery for apparently selfish purposes. He will regret it and come away being the most hated human on the planet. He's going to get way more than he bargained for and a bitter taste lasting all eternity

All of these countries talking like this, reminds some of countries in Europe similar talking, just before the start of WW1.
A large group of Russian soldiers in the border area in 1939 are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a small hill: "One Finnish soldier is better than ten Russian".
The Russian commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the hill where Upon a gun-battle breaks out and continues for a few minutes, then silence. The voice once again calls out: "One Finn is better than one hundred Russian."
Furious, the Russian commander sends his next best 100 troops over the hill and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again Silence. The calm Finnish voice calls out again: "One Finn is better than one thousand Russians!"
The enraged Russian commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the hill. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought…
Then silence.
Eventually one badly wounded Russian fighter crawls back over the hill and with his dying words tells his commander, "Don't send any more men…it's a trap. There's two of them."
