Heck. They're probably trying to figure out if they need to make everything a lot worse and issue a recall.
They could be holding completed production for bacterial testing to see which batches are safe. Bacteria multiplies over time. I remember this being procedure in a manufacturing facility that did bacterial testing on various products.
Or they have contamination and they haven't figured out which supplier its from, or to what extent their contamination goes.
Could be some combination of the two. Everyone involved ends up in a shitty position if the possibility of recalls during a shortage come up.
