These Lessons are hard. They are sometimes scary. They always need practice. They must be exercised every day.
A "Civil Discussion" is something that happens between two parties with widely diverging views about how to obtain the same complex objective. When each has better plans for their own group and smaller plans for the other's group but both accept that all groups are equal parts of the same community, a "Civil Discussion" is possible.
However when one side wants to expand a set of rights and privileges for their own group and limit the rights and privileges for the opposing group, while at the same time the other side wants to expand the rights and privileges for their own while also granting these rights and privileges for the other side, then we have the rise of the tyranny by the restricting side and the demand for a "Civil Discussion" is an assertion of the subjugation of the sharing side. This cannot be resolved by some "Civil Discussion."
OK, Reverand… I love the work you do. But there are no laws preventing a pastor from preaching and being political. I am all for it. Oh, there are laws restricting the special distribution of funds and fees for non-profits and religious companies. If a non-profit gets political, it loses its status. and becomes an ordinary business. Seems fair to me. My understanding of our First Amendment would outlaw any special privileges given to any religious institution. They should all be forced to operate as ordinary private businesses. That would be an honest and true making of "no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…"

Loved your AAPI story, the young women were wonderful. My Son married a woman from New Dehli India three years ago (and besides that it was the most amazing three day wedding I'd ever been to in 65 years,) now text and connect with all the extended family on line and have renewed appreciation for all the various cultures in that part of the world. And hope to have some of them visit me in Colorado one day! Love your show, some very thoughtful and unique stories – a breath of fresh air in our troubled world.

Mr. "Rev" never read in the bible that Jesus told his followers that 'they would be no part of the world, as I [Jesus] am no part of the world', and that when 'they tried to seize him [Jesus]' to make him king, he fled to avoid the situation of being political.
