This is a mistake. I make half what I can make because I save so much working remote.
I make less, spend less, pay less income tax.
The cost of the field trip to the agency daily is way too much. Child care, gas, tolls, tires/brakes/rotors, time in the car, business clothes/shoes, lunches, and I can keep going. Just the cost of owning, insuring, and maintaining a vehicle is enough to turn me off. I’ll make 50k instead of 100k all day long just to work remote.

It’s ridiculous! There should be a hybrid schedule…we had been doing it 2013. We were onsite Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and worked from home Tuesday and Fridays.

Yeah, Elon Musk is about to get a rude awakening, as the Great Resignation hits Tesla and its stock goes yet further in the dump. Maybe he missed the memo: this is a employee's market, and employers who don't learn their place (i.e. beggars can't be choosers) will learn the hard way, when they get driven into the ground. Let's see how much he keeps singing the same tune when his more nimble and fleet-footed competitors, not encumbered by the deficiency of obsolete 20th century frames of mind, suddenly get swelled up with ex-Tesla staff (including those competitors formed by the soon-to-be ex-staff).
