When the car connects to everything and is cellular the powers that be can just shut it down if you have the wrong opinions or go to the wrong protest.
I don't want the meta and I don't need all these fancy chips. Now people don't have to pay attention because they think there car can change lanes for them or park the car for them. Really is it that hard to do on your own. What the heck happen to good drivers. I don't need or want the future you speak of.
Custom chip fabs used to be fairly common in the US at the large corporations then we got a whole generation of MBA managers that outsourced fabs in the 00's. China loves those MBA managers, they wrecked America's industrial base for an annual $10K bonus. Cheaper traitors cannot be found than those produced by Wall St capitalism.
Stop giving companies like Qualcomm a title of chip "manufacturer". They are a semiconductor "design" company, they don't make a single chip by themselves at all. Stop giving this false sense of fulfillment with subtlety inaccurate terminology.
Lies. Chip production is up from pre pandemic levels. Car manufacturers and dealers love the current market and are profiting greatly. They are purposely limiting production to keep prices high.

Are chips necessary for automobile air bags? Exhaust system maybe for pollution control? Those are the only features of vehicles I can think of where chips might be needed. Otherwise, what do you think – might there be a market for mostly mechanical vehicles?
