To be honest the owner is not really loosing any money. What's going to end up happening he's going to claim loss of revenue and the state is going to take the money from the Tax payers which in result you'll get a smaller amount from the state on your income tax this year. Plus they are making the ex employee paying back the $16,000 so in it all they profited $32,000. So the owner didn't loose anything but an employee. That's all. If anyone lost it was the employee unfortunately!

Shell made 9.1 billion dollars in profit in the first quarter of this year. That is 3 times higher than the same quarter last year. And they have continued to raise gas prices even though the price of oil was dropping during that time. That is the cause of inflation, companies are simply raising prices to make more money because Republicans will defend them. And it helps Republicans win elections because dumb people will believe them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the gas station owner lost $16K, not the oil company (in this case Shell). Most gas stations are individually owned and franchises force their stations to buy gas from them at a set rate, meaning the companies makes profit selling to the station, not the consumer. This pushes the responsibility of playing the market on each station instead of on the oil company itself, because they already made a big profit before any gas enters your car. Odds are 2 people, the manager and the station owner, are the only ones ruined by this and not the oil company Shell.
