Towson Apple employees became the company’s first in the U.S. to unionize. Out of 110 workers who were eligible to vote, 65 voted yes and 33 voted no. WBAL’s Tommie Clark reports.

You don’t know your history, every industry that unionize reduce work force. You don’t need people to sell phones or assemble them, don’t believe me? Look at the auto industry.
Outstanding! Congratulations to the workers. They clearly wanted representation and protection against unjust labor practices. What people insist on referring to as “lowest level” labor are certainly not inherently performed by people who deserve lesser treatment. No one deserves to be treated as less than. If the service they provide is necessary, their lives and needs should be considered necessary. Any mythological tales about unions being an economic drain are stories spun by folks raised to believe there are humans who’ve been born to be taken for granted. Workforces are not class systems.

Why do retail workers and coffee baristas need to unionize? I understand if it’s a skilled trade (pipe trades, electrical etc) or civil service (police, firemen) but these are entry level jobs. Next will be fast food workers and grocery baggers. Wouldn’t that raise costs on everything?
Unions been absolutely supressed since like the 30s to the point people think unions are revolutionary.

Then need more empolyees than that to unionize to have serious levelerage. Right now, if they strike apple could fire them all and hire new emplyees or shutdown the store.
Unions are what pushed the lower class workers into the middle class after world war 2. Those at the top want to keep workers like China. Long hours and little pay. Workers stand up and unionize. If you live in fear then you will never achieve anything. Workers deserve to be treated like human beings.

They were already making $20/hr to $22/hr. They are asking for $30/hr. That is more than what some Engineers make. Selling plans, accessories, support, and even those repairs are not a skill level comparable to an Engineer. Engineers have invested and maintained alot of knowledge and skill. And, to pay these retail workers more than an Engineer would be wrong. They should be really happy to be making $22/hr or even $20.
And, they are using the support of the machinists and aerospace worker union. That does not even make sense. They are not machinists or aerospace workers, nor do they use any skills that could be related to machinists and aerospace workers.
