In the larger towns, the "proper cause" is TV personality/Movie star,, Major league sports figure, heavy contributor to a political campaign"…The Court is generally uncomfortable with a state or a bustling metropolis interpreting a Constitutional right until it becomes a heavily restricted "privilege"…So theoretically , the lawful average civilian applying for a permit "shouldn't " find any political/municipal thumbs on the scale.That being said,, New York City especially will turn over any and every rock to find a way to thwart the Court's decision..This will get interesting, no doubt.

The gun violence problem is with criminals…not law abiding citizens. So, the "logic" of disarming citizens for their safety while ignoring criminals makes no sense. Since purchasing a firearm and applying for CCW permit requires a background check, not everyone will be able to purchase a firearm. In Florida, and probably many other states, you get a background check when you apply for a CCW; and then you get more background checks every time you purchase a weapon. Considering that most of the gun crimes are committed by people who are criminals and obtain their guns illegally, we are putting way too much emphasis on violating 2A rights when we should be strengthening existing crime laws, toughening sentences, and making illegal possession of a firearm impossible. As always in states like NY and CA, law abiding citizens are neglected while criminals are shown leniency.
