First-hand information from someone who was at the location, found on Reddit (r/Tacoma) — locally, the event was NOT advertised as a rave!
"I had just gotten off work and decided to walk down to the Church Cantina with some coworkers around 12:30am. As soon as we got inside and started to order our drinks, we heard the shots — a lot of shots. It sounded almost like a full clip. We waited a minute or two then went outside to see. It was on the other side of South Tacoma Way and from where we were sitting on the patio, we could see one person lying on the ground, surrounded by other people. We ended up walking down the block a little to see more. We could see one other victim. Definitely not ravers, just “normal” Tacoma people. Looked like younger twenties. They weren’t even around any bars. They were hanging around a building that had a bunch of closed shops. The cops showed up really fast."
The Supreme Court ruling changed the US dramatically but the good thing is shootings still appear to be humming right along.
