Chesterfield police say a distraught father shot himself after discovering he’d left his 18-month old son in his car while at work. WWBT’s John Hood reports.

Of course the man gets sympathy. If this was a mother, the vitriol would be endless.
What a heart breaking story, this hurts my heart so badly. I'm sure if it was me in that situation I'd do the exact same thing as this poor father. I hope he's at peace now.

What’s with people living their kids inside the car. Must be the pressure and stress from the work. These days the stress just making people very forgetful. RIP all the little ones who die recently being left in the car.
I don't understand how, and why a parent can leave a child in a car, then to commit suicide is a selfish cowardly way to deal with the situation. There has to be something mentally wrong with people like that, or so high on drugs, they're in their own little world. Sad, very sad.

The manufacturer of the baby seats need to put both temperature and occupancy sensors into the seats. If the temperature crosses a certain threshold and the seat remain occupied for several minutes, it will ring an alarm or maybe some other kinds of safety solution. It is heart-breaking that so many kinds die every year while going through hellish pain for hours.

Having a gun in the house facilitied this.
People make terrible mistakes. I couldn't live with myself if I made that mistake, either. Nothing is worth living after losing an only child.
