My Vegas flight for cancelled/delayed 10 hrs and delta gave me back $100 credit for it.. and I lost $350 Vegas hotel room night and 10 hours… that’s American Airlines laws… 3 yrs back , I had a baggage delay for 1 day from Europe and they gave me $350 credits and delivered baggage to my home till
door… Europe has better airline laws and looks like American politicians have managed to escape the laws for their benefits with airlines…
Everyone says they don't have a lot of money or time but travelling in peak periods generally costs you much more so stop lying…….Everyone wants their quick long weekend in Las Vegas or Hawaii and then another quick wekkend away in a month and wonder why they can't get on flights……Tips 1/ avoid flying in peak periods and look at a one of two week holiday because if you are just going for a weekend all the time then you are taking up a plane seat more than you should be…….I know of people who fly one wekkend away every month and then complain their flight was delayed…….If you fly 12 times a year for wekkend getaways EXPECT your flight will be cancelled from time to time.

Pilots are only allowed to work X amount of hours. No more, lest they become overtired which would affect their performance. It also makes it difficult for them to become "overtired" from being "overworked".
Imagine being a delta pilot making 400,000$ a year and complaining lol they get 15 days off each month.

I don’t think the average non-aviation passenger/consumer realizes just how insanely contradictory the FAA has made regulations. It’s FILLED with a bunch of Catch 22’s. On one hand, Part 121 carriers (all major and regional airlines) are not supposed to overwork their pilots like that and are required a certain amount of rest between flights for safe operations. On the other hand, they have this arbitrary rule that new pilots can’t even start training to be an airline pilot before they hit 1,500 flight hours because of literally one pilot who caused a crash in 2009 because he was not trained correctly. That means new pilots who get their initial commercial license at around 300 hours need to fly around like chickens with their heads cut off for another 1200 hours or so before they can even apply for these airlines. I think if you want to fill your pilot shortage, you need to start lifting that stupid 1,500-hour rule and start advocating for better training instead.
Maybe they should pay their staff more instead of dividends to shareholders or stock buy backs.
