Canadian Joshua Edwards asked the United States government to help his family’s ministry stay afloat when the pandemic hit. Edwards claimed the ministry, located in Florida, needed $6 million to pay more than 450 employees, according to court records. The U.S. government approved the PPP loan and even added to his initial ask, granting the family $8 million total. However, the application was a total fabrication. I am seeing so many stories about scammers getting millions in covid relief while I lost my home and was unable to pay rent. I applied for help but was given a big fat NO as an answer. I'm sick of seeing criminals and wealthy people get all this assistance while people like me got nothing.

What church have 450 employees? Do all the members total 450? The application should have required them to list all employees and their duties. The federal government is partly to be blamed for making it so easy for opportunistic thieves. According to this story the four fled with the $8M when the authorities closed in from a house they bought with PPP money and should not be allowed to keep in an obvious fraudulent scheme. The $8M was confiscated why not the house? They should be made to give up the house and get other housing in jail, thereby sending a strong message to other opportunistic religious schemers. Hold them ALL accountable for God’s name sake. Thou shall not steal.
