After our current Supreme Court's recent rulings (like abortion and concealed carry), I'm starting to wonder if our current Supreme Court considers minority rule and civil war lesser evils than abortion. And civil war wouldn't look like last time (except maybe Texas seceding from the Union): assassinations, harassment campaigns, terrorist bombings, mobs storming government buildings, endless state vs. state or state vs. Federal government lawsuits, protesters physically fighting opposing protestors, police of one state targeting drivers of other states for stop-and-search–that's postmodern civil war.
