Semi-automatics featuring auto-reloads are the weapon of choice for consecutive murder or massacre of four or more civilians.
Semi-automatics are both a threat to civilians including comparable armed law enforcers. Law enforcers generally have an added protection using bulletproof vests.
Instead of banning assault weapons, perhaps U.S. Senators should require civilians to wear bulletproof armor outside the home. Bulletproof armor is a good way to self-defend until the Senate employs collective common sense to stop civilian massacres.
