1 in 4 public school across the United States lack interior locking doors, meaning teachers are required to go into the hallway to restrict access to their classrooms. NBC News’ Suzy Khimm reports on the school safety and whether more schools may receive new locking mechanisms after the Uvalde shooting.

Wow. Teachers are just now figuring out what doors are for.
You can’t protect everybody all the time. Lock up all the doors on the schools and school buses might just become the next soft target. You have to get the assault weapons off of the streets.
Republicans have made it vividly clear that they DO NOT CARE how many children are slaughtered in classrooms or how many friends family and community members are gunned down while grocery shopping or watching a parade. Republicans compromise ALL white supremacy hate groups, racist groups and commit 73% of ALL Domestic Terrorism.

Three week old news on the school doors of the classroom being unable to be locked from the inside. The classroom in question had a broken lock, so it couldn't belocked at all. All a smokescreen to cover for gutless "civil service" cops. And the main entrance doors to Robb Elementary School should have automatically locked when closed but didn't, for reasons still unexplained.
We aren't seeing an increase in school shootings because there are more doors. We're seeing an increase in school shootings because there are more guns.

Haven't any of you been in a school before? The handle unlocks the door by pushing on it from the inside and automatically locks when it shuts. Where have you people been for 50 years?? Even a cheap movie can show you that!!
Uh, yeah. There's no imagining the things a teacher could do to a student behind a locked door. Doors aren't the problem. Why are focusing on doors? Guns are killing students, not doors.

Lock door won’t stop a active shooter
We could focus more on mental health and criminals the group of people actually killing people. We could make sure the system that is in place is actually working its not if it was the kid in Illinois would of never been able to get one. People could pay more attention to what their kids are doing.

we don't want doors to lock from the inside. can you imagine how often teachers would get locked out and how many hazards would be made as a result of privacy being enabled i.e. sexual crimes as well. that is a dumb idea to have doors lock from inside. that is stupid idea.

I'm pretty sure this used to be a safety reason before gun violence and schools became a problem.
For example in nursing homes and retirement centers, You can't lock from the inside on many doors just in case a person is having a medical emergency you need to be able to reach them immediately.
They could gone change new locks instead that prevent from shooters 🤦♂️
Make guns extremely expensive and only for ones who earned it
