Administration officials familiar with the January 6th investigation say that Justice Department lawyers are trying to find out what former President Trump was saying to those in his inner circle in the weeks leading up to the Capitol riot. More specifically, investigators want to know what he was telling his aides and lawyers about the effort to have a slate of Trump presidential electors sent in from battleground states that President Biden won. However, the Justice Department hasn’t opened a criminal investigation of Trump himself, but they’re looking into his actions.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath. Asking for phone records in April seems a minimum. Hopefully they've gotten a lot more than phone records. They are still playing catch up, so it will be a while before we hear anything from the DOJ
I spoke to several Trump supporters yesterday and found out that those supporters still insisted that Trump won the election and that Biden stole the election. I asked them if they had any evidence. They all said "no," but there was extensive conspiracy. It is pretty clear that Trump really succeeded in brainwashing his followers. Without first establishing the fact that Trump lost the election fair and square, Trump supporters would never accept that Trump must be held accountable for the Jan. 6th insurrection.
