When talking to someone who rose very high in Jewish religion Jesus told Nicodemus you must be born again or you will not come to Heaven. This is basically showing where God choses us we don't chose God we have to meet his conditions for salvation. The bible says even the devils believe and tremble. This shows where easy believism is not enough. The bible is a message of reconciliation. Which is why Paul called for people to examine themselves to be sure they are really in the faith. Our relationship with Jesus or lack of relationship will be the only thing in our life that has eternal consequences. Life is a race the bible says. It is nothing more than a time to snatch souls from the fire and worship God. Jesus said deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me. It is about repentance, self denial and faith in God. We must come all the way to Christ or we will not go to Heaven it is an extremely serious matter. The bible says in hell the fire will never be quenched and the worm dieth not. Jesus said who I love I rebuke and chasten and I scourge every son I receive. Have your been scourged by the creator of the universe? Have you been rebuked and chastened by God? These are all evidences of a relationship with God. The bible says if you are not chastened and rebuked you are a bastard child. If you have not experienced these things there is likely need for self-examination. God saves people and teaches them, So they could go warn and save whoever would believe this message. The bible says by wisdom the world knew not God so it pleased him by the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe. On the other side of our last breath is excruciating punishment or eternal joy. If you have not repented and Jesus has not transformed you, you might be in big trouble. There are some essential commands Jesus said. One was REPENT and believe the gospel. The next, someone asked Jesus about who is getting saved and Jesus said there is a narrow gate you MUST enter MANY will try and they will not be able. The seriousness and the cruciality of that statement is unmeasurable. Considering the stark differences these few phrases will have in someone's eternal destiny. Serious self examination is necessary because the stakes are high. There is so much evidence in the bible of salvation and if you have none of it You are likely in big trouble and need to immediately throw yourself on the mercy of God and repent for sins and turn to Jesus in hopes that he will spare your soul from the lake of fire. The bible says if our gospel is hid, it is hid from those who are perishing, the God of this world (satan) has blinded their eyes so they cant see and cannot hear). PERISHING in contrast Jesus said he who believes in me WIll never die. Remember God knows whats in the heart if it is a life saving faith.
