Housing Shortage Seeping Into The Midwest And South

With high demand and low inventory, even those in the heartland are having trouble purchasing houses. The housing crisis has now found its way to cities like Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Different studies show a massive shortage of housing nationwide, with estimates ranging from 1.6 million to more than 5 million housing units needed. A new analysis from upforgrowth.org shows metro areas like Wichita, Kansas, Muskegon, Michigan, and Decatur, Alabama were once well stocked in 2012 but had housing shortages by 2019.

  1. Just wait things are gonna push ppl into being poor

  2. There should be a rule where the new houses that are being built, whoever buys it cannot resell within the next 5 years. This way they can't just flip it for a profit.

  3. I work as a freelance inspector for 3 companies that flip houses. I meet with the owner, walk through, and report back to the buyer with photos and a report.

Private home sellers LOVE the concept. As is where is, how is, and they close FAST.

These are all CASH deals, no inspection, no appraisal, just CASH.

Blackrock has approached me several times with 6 figure offers to work for their firm…. But they are a destructive force…. I'd rather help people selling to people, than people selling to a company

  4. Malibu of the Midwest xD yeah right!

  5. Housing buy and flip for
    5X what you payed.
    Easy money

  6. House hogs ! It should be against the law . I see plenty of house's but the Rich trash buys them all. Fk the Rich .

  7. Move to the Caribbean

  8. It's probably related to investors. Anyone see the news reports about mega-investors buying up housing stock in Florida to create an artificial shortage and the sell their properties off slowly in order to keep prices inflated. It could happen anywhere.

  9. No shortage. Never was. Only short on affordability.

  10. Lol… and you need construction crews?.. labor?

  11. Housing shortage…lol mayor looks like a realtor…. lol

  12. Too many people!!!
    CONTRACEPTION

  13. With Biden letting in millions of ILLEGALS and "refugees" into the U.S. things will just get worse not to mention more food shortages. You thought things are bad now. Just wait

  14. Start making sales conditions within the contracts that NO CORPORATE companies are eligible to buy as rental property. Sell directly to individuals and families only. Greed is taking over as you can see.

  15. I feel like you should get some housing plans and invest some land and build it. Just a suggestion.😊

  16. Lots of folks saying there isn't a housing shortage. I'm a contractor in middle TN. When there is a massive migration from big western cities I have more calls to build homes than I have the subs to handle. You could say there is a shortage of craftsmen to build these homes.

  17. We need laws like Norway. If you can't live there for 6 months, it can't be yours.

  18. They gave e all the houses and apartments to illegals

  19. Soon our cars will also be bought up by corporations leaving us no alternative but to lease or rent

  20. Lol…its all a facade….Banks sure do know how to manipulate the demand/supply…of course they say these to keep housing market up

  21. Millions of immigrants come over the border every day. Not surprised!!!

  22. This is not true at all. This is so misleading.

  23. There's no shortage just greedy people ripping people off with high prices

  24. There is not a housing shortage. The expanding suburban development is a ponzi scheme, where cities get into increasing debt for utilities and have to continue to expand their tax base by “buying more farmland.” We need better city planning, public transportation, limits on the auto lobbyists and less corrupt politicians

  25. The Malibu of the Midwest 🤣🤣🤣

  26. If banks/stock markets are allowed to use basic human needs as an investment, then this is what happens. Now that the housing market is tapped out, the investors moved to apartment complexes, and they are using THOSE as investments – either as asset appreciation, or used by smaller property owners as short term AirNB properties. If you require people to actually live in the properties they buy, then the investment people will find something else to buy, and people like us will be able to afford homes.

  27. shortage?????? LMAO Google how many vacant homes are in the united states…. its a fk ton over a million houses just sitting there rotting for profits.

  28. There’s no housing shortage.

  29. R U behind the times. Affordable housing went out the window 10 years ago. I had to move father south because millionaires moved in close to Michigan lake. Prices through the roof no housing left for us that aren't even close to millionaire statis
