It sounds to me like Trump had some dirt on some major political figures in the Democrat establishment, in those seized documents, and this smash and grab raid was just an attempt to confiscate evidence or stuff it somewhere that the sun doesn't shine to make sure that nobody goes to jail when the balance of power passes to the Republicans in the mid-term elections. The skinny on the Hill is that the FBI had to take this drastic action because the matter was very personal to them. This is because Trump purportedly had a document(s) implicating them in either the fabrication of Spygate or aiding it's perpetrators in covering it up. If this is true, it means that Trump truly did have a smoking gun after all. But the odd thing about (in terms of the public's perception) it is that it implicates them, not him!

Well, it is correct, we never have something like this happening before to one of our former president, but it is also true that United Estates never has a president before that was so extortionist, corrupted and despicable like a president that cheated the first time becoming president, and tried to cheat the second time to stay in power.
What happened on January 6 was not a protest as many try to make it seem, what we all witnessed was actually an organized act of treason conducted no only by the former president of US, but also supported by 147 Republicans lawmakers, who voted to overturn the US election.
Those are the same lawmakers looking out to criticize any type of investigation that will get close to them, as it will be a menace to them. Truth is they all should be prosecuted and removed from power.

Since the very founding of the nation there has been absolutely no precedent for this sort of thing. And why would there? It would most likely only be used/abused as a political tool to harass former U.S. presidents. (As seen here.) Which is precisely why the office of Commander-In-Chief has traditionally been protected from such actions, considering that in their official capacity they sometimes have to make some extremely hard decisions involving (among other things) matters of national security. Removing that protection only serves to undermine the office itself. Because from then onward just about every future president will be second-guessing themselves (at the expense of being an effective head of state).
