This surface-level analysis missed an important point:
Overall inflation is flat due to the drop in oil prices. Oil prices are controlled by OPEC+, not by domestic policy. This means two things:
(1) The US economy did not cause the favorable report,
(2) The fact that we didn't see a negative number even after the drop in fuel is a huge disappointment, and high inflation is still among us.
