A disoriented brown bear cub was rescued in Turkey on Thursday, appearing to have been intoxicated after eating an excessive amount of “mad honey.” Mad honey, or “deli bal” in Turkish, is a type of rhododendron honey that can have hallucinogenic effects, but the bear is expected to make a full recovery.

My grandpa ate 2 tablespoons of this honey without telling us and he was hospitalized after fainting.

This happening is not rare in the Black Sea Region of Turkey. I've travelled the region long ago and remember the locals mention the toxic honey. What's probably rare is a bear coming too close to people – for good reason – and that people are filming.

This honey makes you trip. Same thing happened to me when I ate mad honey in Turkey.
