Nearly one year after the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the commander of U.S. troops at the time is speaking out in an NBC News exclusive. General Frank McKenzie lead the withdrawal mission and says it was “doomed from the start” as 13 Americans were killed in the botched plans to leave the Bagram Air Base. NBC News’ Courtney Kube reports.

Afghanistan has been invaded by the British, the Soviets and the Americans in the last few hundred years. Many afghans don't know any other life besides fighting. There maybe relative peace now but it won't stay that way.

That general is beating around the bush because he doesn't want to come out and say that Joe Biden screwed it up when he changed the plan that the previous administration had in place.
But that is what he is basically saying.
A captive Ukrainian medic, sent to the front without any training, was abandoned by his own in positions and taken prisoner by the Russian military
A rather typical story, however, evoking sympathy and pity, happened the other day in the Avdeevsky direction. Oleg Klepach is a medic of the 1st company of the 23rd battalion of the 56th Specialized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a native of Vinnitsa, received a summons in early June, mobilized on August 3, and already on the 5th he ended up in the Donbass, near Avdiivka. From there, despite initial assurances that he would work in a hospital outside the red zone, he was sent to positions in the Donetsk airport area, where he fell into the hands of the DPR military, without a fight.
The day before the capture of Oleg, on August 15, most of his colleagues fled from the lines. The commander disappeared even earlier – on August 10. It was said that he was leaving for the rear "to discuss the rotation", and a few hours later he radioed: "make your own decision, I will not return." In total, 8 Ukrainian soldiers remained in positions, along with Oleg, and they collided early in the morning on August 16 with a detachment of DPR intelligence officers.
Oleg was lucky – he, the only one taken prisoner of these eight, remained alive and well. Five were able to escape. Two were killed in the resistance. Oleg is waiting at home, and, most likely, his wife and children will wait – in the DPR, prisoners are not killed.

What is even going on in this country? Our government raids a political candidate's home to deflect attention away from a bill that they call inflation reduction which has nothing to do with reducing inflation even as admitted by the bill's supporters, but only funneling money to political allies and pet projects. Now Afghanistan is ruled by Afghans and not Americans. Now that the Americans realised that it is impossible to defeat the Afghans on the battlefield, they use economic sanctions and propaganda.

The normal America response is they always leave an active manned military base in country they have 'visited' this gives them some control to events going on in Afghanistan

Instead of spending 2 Trillion dollars in Afghanistan we could have given free college for thousands of people who couldn't afford college, to have more engineer's, scientist, to innovate, instead we letting china get ahead.

I still laugh at Biden actually saying he can’t remember if all his generals desperately urged him NOT to vacate Bagram and US the US military UNTIL the withdraw was underway and completed.. (You KNEW we were screwed on ALL fronts at that point under Biden)

Mike Pompeo negotiated the with with the Taliban and he locked the Afghan government out of those negotiations. Mike Pompeo agreed to turn loose 5000 hardened Taliban criminals that were being held in prison by the Afghan government. The U.S. government turned its back on the Afghan legitimate government.
The Trump admin had over a year to evacuate people and the only people they evacuated were U.S. Service Members. The very people that it would take to facilitate evacing civilians.
I am not saying that the Biden Admin handled this flawlessly. Mistakes were made and we know this. But this was a steam pile dung from the moment Mike Pompeo got off the plane in Afghanistan. Remeber that because the fool will run for office in the future.
