  1. We don’t have to do anything – nature is self-healing. We have to do nothing. In November global population reaches 8 billion. Our irrational economic system forces us to consume and produce as much as possible – to create an abstract economic value (money) whose status falsely constitutes ‘reality’. Current global wealth is about half a quadrillion (431 trillion dollars in 2021). But it hardly matters. Prices are subjective. Supply is structured by what is removed from availability. Demand is determined by the unequal distribution of abstract value. The material dilemma (we still need food and homes) is a problem only because our surplus accrues to fewer and fewer. A quarter of global wealth is controlled by millionaires.

We can have an ecological society based on health, leisure and creativity. It is viable to meet everyones needs with a fraction of global output, simply by lowering the maximum ceiling substantially, and raising the minimum floor ever so slightly. Effectively, by an equal public distribution of basic services that constitute a sufficiently high quality of life – but not more. Public luxury and private sufficiency, in a context of ecology and participatory democracy. Less literally is more. The false illusion of abundance is a road to extinction. Scarcity, ironically, could make us free. If we do nothing, the rivers will fill with water, and most of life could be spent ‘being human’ again. What I’m saying isn’t realistic you say? What is real? The system we invented? Or the biological systems of chemistry and physics that keep us alive? I promise you will not be able to eat or drink a quadrillion dollars when there is no water in the rivers, and droughts cause crops to fail as global famine becomes ‘normalized’.

  2. Just the tip of the ice berg

  3. Oh no where are they going to dump all of their chemicals?

  4. China would need "alternative" water sources; "alternate" is a verb. Read a book, NBC.

  5. The commies are TOO BUSY to invade Taiwan than to take care of their own people. Besides, cHiNa has one of the WORST environmental track of records. Serves them right.

  6. I guess this is the beginning of the global climate crisis…any deniers out there?

  7. This is getting more extreme every year around the world we are headed for disaster😳🙏.. and so many people many Republicans and others think there's no such thing as global warming

  8. Yup. Rivers and lakes are dying and drying up all over the Earth. Combination of "what was already happening for thousands of years" and man-made issues.

But make no mistake: topside won't be sustainable for that much longer (in the grand scheme). I'd estimate that around 2222, it will nearly be impossible to live topside, and by 2422, that would be guaranteed. That's even if humanity doesn't destroy itself first. 💪😎🤟

  9. The price of consumption.

  10. Let's hope Xi Jinping follows the example of the Yangtze River and dries up .

  11. Welcome to global warming big polluters !

  26. Just think, all these dried up rivers will make it easier for the " refugees" to get around.

  27. Science doesn't need you to believe in it to make it real. Whether you believe in it or not, it's happening. The number one issue facing the world in the future will be a lack of fresh water to drink. And living temperatures. Imagine in the future when the average temperature is 130 degrees and getting hotter every year. There will be a breaking point and all the climate deniers will be dead by then and the next generation will look back and think how foolish they all were to not have prevented or done something about it when it was still possible.

  32. That means a éxodo is coming soon.

  33. The question no longer seems to be who is low on water but who isn't. It is almost like the Earth itself is claiming the water and turning it into thin air.🌀🌍💧🌎💧🌏🌀

  34. The gigantic corporations have destroyed earth's climate and now we will have to deal with it while they live cushy lives with their billions of dollars.

  35. So many chaos happening in China these days…

  36. I wonder when are people going to realize that something needs to be done NOW

  37. Just think how Desperate is XI to divert attention away from all the Problems China has to deal with by doing "War games" on Taiwan to stay popular.
