I hate to say this about Democrats but we are just ignorant. We want to much. We want something Joe Biden can’t deliver. If you are a progressive and more to the left do you want things Joe Biden can’t deliver because the things you ask for most Americans might understand but they aren’t willing to pay for. Yes we do need vast climate legislation that goes beyond what we just passed you aren’t going to get most Americans on board for it. Many on the left are pushing for social initiatives LGBTQ rights for example I am all for them but guess what those initiatives don’t get people out to vote. So you have the left of the Democratic Party arguing with those who are in this more center of the Democratic Party saying look guys we can’t get this stuff to pass legislatively we can’t even get the people who we want to vote to support it legislatively help us do something else help us past simple measures that will win as votes and the other side says no we want a more progressive agenda I’m not saying it’s going bad it’s just what they want and they won’t give up on it so the Democratic Party is forced to push a more progressive agenda and immediately it’s killed. In a Senate that’s 50/50 it’s not going to make it you might not even get 50 Democrats to support it and they notice so why are they pushing it.
Meanwhile every Republican is going to point and argue look at them they are in charge they haven’t gotten anything done it’s so much easier campaign slogan. Look at our most recent legislation Democrats got passed a majority of the climate legislation which we need it but it’s not going to get voters ginned up and get them to the polls. If you wanted people to vote as a progressive Democrat you will put something totally different on that legislation it would’ve been about marijuana it would’ve been about camping healthcare expenditures you would’ve focused on raising the minimum wage the federal minimum wage you would’ve literally said inflation has kicked people in the butts companies in iron $500,000 or more a year in sales will need to up wages guaranteed. That’s how we find inflation we tell companies you need to pay your workers more. Now I’m in Finance I know that that doesn’t necessarily make economic sense but the voters when you say to them we’re going to put more money in your pockets it makes perfectly good sense to them. When you show your voters companies are making more money than ever even in all of this inflation what’s wrong with asking why can’t you get paid a little bit more.
