I purchased a BMW i4 M50 4 days before the president signed the new IRA tax bill, will get the $7500 tax credit (old tax bill) when I file next March, also ordered a BMW E-MINI on August 7th. won't get that car until February 2023, but it too qualifies for the $7500 tax credit (under the transition rule), sometimes things to work out.
If I would have waited until August 17th of after to make the purchase or order, then no tax credit at all, both now are disqualified because of where they are built.

How many people know the cost of replacing an electric vehicles battery? Look it up. How many people know how much Lithium it takes to make an electric vehicles battery? Look it up. How many people know that in these 3rd world countries that are mining for Lithium are using children to mine said Lithium? Look it up. How many people know that they need electricity to charge their electric vehicles? And how many understand where that electricity comes from? Hydroelectric, and they want to take out the dams. Coal fired plants, the righteous want them gone too. Let's not forget the nuclear plants. Gone too. Wind generated? Found to be inefficient. Solar? Remains to be seen.

i bought a brand new subaru crosstrek 6 speed manual recently. the car was 26K, the average selling price of a new EV is 60K. i could buy 2 of my current cars and still have 8k left over. i get 33 MPG average, and that's with the many hills between here and where i work.
the EV has a battery replacement cost of around $20K, that is 77% of the cost of my entire car. we have tough winters here. my subaru has AWD and will handle whatever weather i might encounter, the EV likely not have AWD.
another thing people often dont think about the dramatic reduction in range an EV will suffer, range which will start to degrade after a few years of ownership. a cell phone that is several years old will not hold the charge like a new phone. EV's use the same lithium ion technology and the batteries loose capacity in a similar fashion.
NO, i absolutely will NOT be "making use of the EV tax credit". im not interested in owning one of these things. if someone would like to purchase one WITHOUT forcing me to subsidize their purchase, that is OK….. that's called capitalism and freedom of choice……. BUT DO NOT EXPECT ME TO WANT TO PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S PURCHASE. the government needs to get the hell out of this business.

Tax credits don't help senior citizens because most senior citizens don't have to file taxes if they live on Social Security so all these tax credits are a joke and who can afford to go out and buy an electric vehicle nowadays you can't even afford to pay your electric bill they want us to believe that they're trying to help us and turning everything green but they're trying to do things so quickly that it's going to bankrupt America even worse and there are going to be people that have to go without a vehicle even if they make it so you have to have them I mean who's got that much money to go and buy a new vehicle how many people in the United States drive around in junk Vehicles because they don't have money to buy a new one and they say I will give you a tax credit for a washer or dryer that runs on so if you have solar panels will give you tax credits and all this other stuff who can afford this stuff with suffering and a tax credit you get once a year at the end of the year when you file your taxes we need the money now and we don't have to have our government spend our money for us which is exactly what's going on right now they're deciding where our pattern money goes that's not how I got a minute supposed to be run
