Colorado River Water Levels Drop To Historic Lows As Area Contends With 23-Year Drought

This week, the federal government announced emergency water cuts for states along the river. The river serves roughly 40 million people, and population growth trends suggest the drought may only worsen.

  1. Yeah and it doesn't have nothing to do with the billionaires that have all these bottled water companies draining all the water out some of these other lakes.🤔 I'm not saying I'm right about this but you know how they have oil rigs out in the ocean and they pump all the oil out in the ocean I just wonder if they're pumping water out from beneath these lake's. Just thinking 🤷 who knows

  2. The same munchkin who predicted Hillary the winner in 2016

  3. Also known as global warming

  4. Didn't someone point out when the western states were being established that you ignored the geography of the rivers at your peril and that boundaries should follow rivers for effective management? Too much building everywhere. Florida is overwhelmed with it. When's it stopping?

  5. Everyone knows we are having a terrible drought in the Southwestern part of the USA, right??? Especially the area that relies on the Colorado river for water. At least that is the media’s reporting of events. That is what all the climate maps show, right? But is that really accurate?
I tend to believe over population and too much agriculture is the major problem with our reservoirs and not “droughts”. The Southwest has grown in leaps and bounds over the past 50 years. Yes, a good rain/snow year or two would be helpful, but IMO just a band-aide. I submit to you the following:
For the 2022 water season, the Colorado River Basin is at 99% of it’s normal precipitation. (actually is is now at 102%, since I originally posted this, the water season ends at the end of September)
For the 2021 water season, the upper Colorado River Basin received 80% of it’s normal precipitation.
For the 2020 water season, the upper Colorado River Basin received 81% of it’s normal precipitation.
For the 2019 water season, the upper Colorado River Basin received 120% of it’s normal precipitation.
So for the past 4 years The upper Colorado River Basin, on the average has received 95% of it’s normal precipitation. Is that a drought or is that slightly below average??? That being said, 4 years ago Lake Powell’s volume was nearly double of what it is today. That is a huge drop off, yet the precipitation was only slightly below the norm. Too many people with a straw in the drink! links to the data I mentioned:
(please look at these sites via a desk top computer or at least a lap top. A cell phone’s screen will not show enough data.)

btw: there is a drop down box in the upper left hand corner of the lake mead and lake Powell data bases which shows data for other reservoirs on the Colorado river. pay special attention to Mohave and Havasu as they are both south of Mead. Powell is north of Mead. Keep in mind, Powell feeds Mead, Mead feeds Mohave, Mohave feeds Havasu. Havasu has the aqueducts which feed California! Currently Lake Powell is at about 25% full, Mead is about 27% full. Havasu and Mohave are both about 95% full. It is well known that Lake Mead is down a lot in volume this year. But do you realize that the inflow of water to Lake Mead is at about 130% of it’s normal inflow for this date! Rivers feeding Lake Powell are running at 98.41% of the Aug 21st avg. Click for Details This adds more to the theory, there are just too many straws in the drink! Too many people and farms using water.

  6. That is why greedy siciopathic Private Equity, Nestle and oligarchs wanted to get their private grubby hands in water throughout the world s they could determine who lives and who doesn’t. Never allow them any control of any bogies water. Inly corrupt politicians like we saw the republicans in Michigan would leave people sick and vulnerable in private hands. Pay close attention because water is becoming scarce in climate warming which stupid propagandized republicans deny and ignore!

  7. Sounds like Tribulation could be on the horizon considering the correlation between inflation, & population…?⏳

  8. I thought vegas was recyle there water

  9. Golf courses and green lawns in the desert makes no sense.
We need to live with nature and the environment not destroy it.

  10. Weather events are getting more extreme because of Climate Change.
How hot does it have to get before governments and corporations wake up and stop adding more fossil fuels to the climate fire.
There is a Climate Crisis. We need Climate Action NOW !

  11. Climate Change is making weather events more extreme. This will impact the worlds food supply.
Floods, droughts, fires, excessive heat and low water levels in reservoirs and in ground water storage are becoming more common. We must stop adding more fossil fuels to the climate fire.
India, China, Brazil, Japan, US, Europe, Indonesia, Canada, Germany and Australia need to do more to reduce use of fossil fuels. They must stop building and financing more coal fossil fuels power plants.
Time to go all in on wind and solar energy and electric vehicles.
Fossil fuels are a bad investment for people and the planet.
Investors are divesting from fossil fuels. ESG investing is growing.
The cost of dealing with the impact of climate change will be greater than the cost of reducing the impact.
The world population is expected to grow by another billion people. Where will the food come from ?

  12. Humans are in overshoot. All of our problems are going to get worse from here on.

  13. Last time I checked huge part of this area is a desert…and last time I checked agriculture in the desert is sort of a no-no…. but what do I know

  14. You showed July's water level for lake mead but it's higher now why didn't you show Augusts 21st water level

  15. Learn a new language. All you need is your red bandana. You have yet to see the beautiful things I have to show you.

  16. Since the Colorado River is drying up I doubt that many people shown in the data will continue to move ANYWHERE that the river serves. That's because according to this news bit, there isn't going to be a river anymore. No water? No people…

  17. How about starting with boarder control for one. People leaning how to use a condom for another and having available planned parenthood as well.

  18. Be creative. Divert the waste rain water to states that need it. Build a Super Big Pipe and good Centralized system.

  19. Fauci is a Scammer like Joe Biden

Brittney Grinner is a criminal let het stay in Jail for 9 yeras let concentrate in the border we are sleeping with the enemy
For the Democrats to not give in it means they chose not only to leave America vulnerable on the southern border, not only to further allow that unfettered flow of drugs, MS-13, and terrorists, not only for such conditions to pose harm to Americans, but they are willing to starve fellow Americans to see it all happen.
we don't need her why given a danger prisoner this is not good we have to let her stay there we are sleeping with the enemy

  21. red states don't believe in climate change.. they don't want to do anything about it.

  22. Stop calling something that has been going on 23 years a drought!!!! This is the norm if it's not changed in 23 years. This is climate change PROOF!! Calling it a drought means things will someday become better!!! It will not!!

  23. And the Democrats are making the situation worse by importing thousands from the third world. Yet they claim to care about the environment.
