As many students across the country return to the classroom after years of remote learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Education Association says the U.S. needs another 300,000 educators and support staff in schools to meet the needs of students. I'm a recruiter and you would be surprised by how many college professors and teacher just don't wanna be around young adults and kids. It's very alarming. And they are willing to take Huge pay cuts not to go back into the classroom. Isee and hear it first hand daily. And it's only going to get worse.
Unfortunately learning begins at home and homes today ain't like they were in our Leave it Beaver Days.
I learned all I needed at home to make a living before i graduated HS and left home at 17. The dozen colleges and universities since did nothing to help my earning an income, It was all those things I learned from my parents. Cook, clean, build, imagine, create,
are things all learned at home. TODAY a thumbplucking shooter game device, these days it's a "can you hear me now"/tracking device phone.

They took away kids food too. Why would they want to go to school
Having worked in a school, it's a challenge. Parents should be required to spent a certain amount of hours in our schools. Make the teaching programs better, and better recruitment. Teachers should not have to work 10-20 years to make six figures.

He mentioned everything except the fact that they're also putting their lives at risk because the government refuses to do anything concerning gun legislation. I spent the last five years as a PE teacher doing safety drills that required trying make sure two classes would be safe if a shooter entered the premises. There is much more to the shortage than they're wanting to own up to. It will only get worse.
There is no teacher shortage. Districts won’t hire anyone with experience coming into the system, people with advanced degrees, or who don’t fit diversity requirements.
Imagine the teacher shortage in Florida because teachers are quitting because deathsantis is banning books like the bible and Ann Frank.
Sports coaches get more respect and are paid more than teachers.

I would never go back. Betsy DeVos and her ilk want to end public education and it has been a decades-long effort. Most of the teachers I worked with were average/below average. About 25% of us were superior. I guess people‘s children are not important to them. They just want a babysitter. Good luck, future generations.
