Family Gets Answers On Missing Loved One Decades After Disappearance

Myrtle Brown went missing in 1990 in New York City after she went to get a refill on her epilepsy medication. The family checked the hospitals and called the police but could not find her. This spring, her brother Robert was watching NBC Nightly News when he saw our story that profiled an all-women team in the medical examiner’s office trying to identify remains stretching back decades. After contacting the office, Robert and his family were able to find some much-needed closure.

  1. Imagine someone stole her purse with her medication in it and that lead to her death 😢

  2. Bless her. How sad but I'm glad her family has closure now.

  3. My heart went out to them but my mind went to the badtard who snatched her purse and her meds….I hope he sees this and try to repent for his basically killing her and hurting her family

  4. Your mom abandoned you . My children where kidnapped. Your not newsworthy

  5. But I thought the USA was an "institutionally racist" nation? If that were true none of this would have happened. No one would have cared. It's almost as if the USA IS NOT racist. Hum……?

  6. My deepest condolences.🙏🏼

  7. This is so sad for Myrtle, Robert and the whole family. Finally, Myrtle has been identified and she is no longer a 'cold case' or unidentified missing person. She has her dignity and her family back.
The work done by these professionals and their gifts are astounding. Thank you to everyone involved in this project.

  8. Helping families gain closure and have a body to bury and mourn is a noble task. Thank you.

  9. The person who stole her purse basically murdered her because she didn't have her meds and at the least caused her family to go through this because Myrtle didnt have her ID. I'd like to know where they found her pocketbook. RIP Myrtle and prayers for the family.

  10. Did they cremate or bury her? Her family has the right to know so they can possibly have a proper burial and start to heal.

  11. It's sad that she died alone and unidentifiable. But I'm glad that her death wasn't violent.
    God bless them.

  12. I'm confused and a little angry cause if I understand it right…this mom died at the hospital lobby at the time she only gave her name and dob.
So when the family went to police and to the hospital to find her you mean to tell me nobody could connect the dots especially at the hospital. I would think if police or family members came to hospital asking "did a woman by this name come here?"
The hospital didn't realize well hey someone by that name died here recently!
Was there no effort? Or just really bad network back then?
    I'm so confused.

  13. Remember, there are some killers out there who stole her purse, which contained her medication she needed. She would have lived if she had it. Those people need to be brought to justice, if they haven't already, or are already dead.

  14. Such useless authorities. They easily could have matched things up at the time. This is institutional racism and classism unless proven otherwise. If she’d been a well-to-do blonde woman they’d’ve identified her in two seconds.

  15. You will always have your mothers love ❤️ & protection . Sending the family a hug

  16. I'm glad they have answers now, but I feel for them for the pain they've endured all these years.

  17. So glad they have peace now.

  18. Great job by the team to identify this woman I hope it helped the family.

  19. I’m glad they got closure. This was heartbreaking to hear about.

  20. Wow. She LOVED HER FAMILY. IT was an accident.

  21. Give me a break. They easily could find her family that time

  22. Great job! Glad the family has some answers about their missing mother/sister. RIP

  23. I feel this Ebony’s pain and grief here…😢💔😥 I am currently reeling with the unbearable grief and deeply saddening pain of the loss over my very own adopted mom. This week and time, September last year was when I last saw her alive. Never thought it’d be my last time…. Right before Christmas she passed it’s still surreal and unbelievable. 💔🌏💔Now parentless and feeling very much more alone even orphaned. It’s incredibly hard, and how certain family and friends can even turn 360 is even more gutting if not isolating and alone.😥💔😪 #Grief Hurts I’ll never understand why so much loss at times though my adopted mom is no longer suffering nor my biological father it’s still unbearably heartbreaking. Rest In Peace to Myrtle and my sincerest condolences to her loved ones. I’m sure this may be healing to then but there’s no timeline for grief.🥀

  24. Prayers for this precious family.❤️🙏🙏

  25. I’m so sorry that happened to her I hope she rests in peace and her family gets the say closure/healing they need

  26. such a tragedy! if she had had her seizure medication maybe she would have lived💔 It's a blessing the family finally has peace though🙏🏾

  27. It is heartbreaking that she died alone. However, it good that the Medical doctors did the news report on the dead unidentified people because now the brother and daughter know what happened to their love one.
