This guy is factually incorrect. Mexico city has a building code that all structures must be built in such a way with certain materials so that they are purpose built to withstand earthquakes. This has been THE LAW for the past 35 years. Most buildings in the U.S. are not purpose built to withstand earthquakes because much of the U.S. does not have earthquakes! Case in point, look at the world trade center. Nothing in New York is built to withstand any kind of shaking because the ground does not shake over there. You're talking apples and oranges man.
