Not clear on exactly what "brutal" Ponting made , but I can see what cricketers like Scott Boland have faced from ignorant cricketers like former Ausie Skipper , Ponting.. Boland created more pro blems for England than Richardson.
Both R Richardson and Boland have faced England.
Not did Scott Boland pick up more a wickets than Richardson, on his test appearance, he would have had more if I wasn't for the drop catches at slip

Love Ponting, but I think there’s something to be said for making guys to earn their spots based upon performance in games. If Boland hasn’t earned his spot based upon his performance in Ashes test matches, then there’s literally nothing he can do to become a mainstay.

Yeah he was honest with his assessment and he has a right to it, but many players can swing the ball a mile and never perform when they get the right pitch to bowel on, this bloke get a look in and perform, so it's not a gimme if you have more skill or experience.

Even if Ponting is right, you cant put Boland below Richardson with all of Bolands wickets. Cant sit out Boland saying, "you are getting us lots of and key wickets but that guy has more quality". Runs and wickets above all. Look at what Pakistan did with Fawad Alam because Asad Shafiq looked better.

Bolland is just a very average bowler. Englishmen were very dumb to put youngsters on opening and got destroyed by pressure on very soft dismissals
