Those sand bags are a waste of time. Take your photos and important papers and go to higher ground. Just drive north to the Tallahassee area and if the storm turns west then go further inland north.
I stayed in south broward county for Andrew, I was 30 miles north of the center and although our house was new and I boarded over the windows the curtains were blowing and every tree in the area was blown over. This is not the same type of a storm but the water can be as devastating as the wind and after it passes it is very rough to live without gas or electricity. Life gets tough when your house is damaged and you have no power, no ice, no gas to leave, etc.

I was here in Miami in 2017 during Hurricane Irma. We lost power around midnight, the walls in my apt. were shaking so bad it was very scary. The next morning when it was over we received water, food, medical attention and whatever we needed right away. The community came together to help each other very well.
The "good news" is that the hurricane will temporarily distract DeSantis from his attempts to attract Far Right votes via political games such as transporting migrants to Blue States. It's a welcome relief from his political gaming.
