Linda Blomquist, who lives in Punta Gorda, Florida, joins News NOW to explain why she and her family decided to ride out the storm at home and what it was like when Ian made landfall.

  1. My kids and I survived Ian. We live in Nokomis (Venice) and we just got our electricity back.
This was the scariest storm I’ve ever experienced in my life. It lasted for an eternity!

  2. Well they voted for you know who, and probably still think global warming is a communist ploy. Little sympathy for Floridians.

  3. Yes, it was very hard to watch, that gusting wind kept circling around in the same areas for hours, and hours, would not leave, did not know when to end. Very very hard to watch.
    🙏 For people of Florida.
In front of power of mother nature, humans are so small, next to nothing.

  4. If Trump was still in office, he would've taken his Sharpie marker and rerouted the hurricane back to Bermuda and kept the US safe. He could just think it away, much like thinking documents to declassify them, and that would stop the hurricane. If all else failed, he would've dropped an atomic bomb into the eye of Ian and decimated it. He would've done something to keep it away.

Sleepy Joe doesn't have the awesome powers that Trump does. This is all on Biden!

  5. Some people also had no choice but to stay

  6. I totally agree with title… it went on for so long

  23. HURRICANE IAN – 2022 %%

Hurricane Ian hit like an atom bomb

Consuming the helpless in it's path.

The waters of the deep surged forth

    Flooding everything with it's wrath.

The best of the brave was seen by man

While rescue crews were helping others.

They risked their life and laid it on the line

To save our sisters and brothers.

May heaven show mercy upon the lost

Never to love, laugh, sing or cry

God bless every man, woman and child

Who before their time had to die.

Tears are the raindrops of the soul

    Shed by all who cry

Though the eyes are wet and swollen

With time and patience they dry.
