I hear what progressives are saying. However, if you do not place this man into an institution. He runs to risk of running into a man like me. Which will place his life in mortal danger. If you need to build a mental health hospital with capacity then do it. If you need more bed space for jails then do it. If you need more treatment centers built then do it. If you leave him out on the streets you are risking his life.

His homelessness and untreated mental illness would have been fixed with more progressive politics, not less, and the poor pup would also be alive. See how framing is used to push an agenda – this is one sad case. It doesn't say anything about policies. Look to places with Housing First programs and how they have virtually ended homelessness. After that much easier to deal with drug use, mental illness and get some of these people into working life.

Separating violent individuals from the rest of society isn't so much about justice as it is about pragmatism & practicality, and I find it incredibly disturbing that so many folks are more concerned with the wellbeing of the person who killed the dog vs the wellbeing of the dog or the dog owner.
The person responsible for this heinous crime should be charged with animal cruelty!
