(The injured were expeditiously evacuated by helicopter to medical care facilities) I feel for anyone who is suffering from this hurricane. But why aren't the lower income working class folks (the ones that survived) or struggling middle class or young folks in other areas being covered by the news media?
With every building damaged or destroyed, along with destroyed infrastructure, is it intelligent to rebuild on these barrier islands? Anyway, I doubt there will be insurers willing to take the risk, so that might answer the question.

The scope of coverage and assistance from government agencies that is currently occurring after hurricane Ian was not seen after hurricane Michael in Mexico Beach, FL and other areas in the Florida panhandle. It angers me that the government administration that was in power in 2018 acted as if they did not care, or did not consider post-Michael victims to be important. The Florida Panhandle had to take care of themselves.
I only go to FL in Feb and March, and I rent or lease. Too hit the rest of the year, and there's the risk of hurricanes from June thru November. There's no way in the world I'd ever own property there…

Astonishing news! Mayor of Sanibel Island in Florida reports that the long-lost SS Minnow has washed up on the beach during the hurricane.
The crew and guests, some over 100 years old, looked as though they hadn’t aged a day.
They all refused treatment and attributed their youthful appearance to what appears to be a ton of cocaine in the Minnow’s hull.

I just don't understand why anybody who lived on that island would stay with a cat 4 hurricane coming. Even if you were elderly I'm sure they had arrangements that you could leave has this certainly wasn't there first rodeo.

I could see something was there but I was not able to see what it was. Then I heard a disgusting noise coming from it and I told it.

Then I awoke not knowing I was in a dream as the entire dream was where I was and how I was. "Never had a dream like this before and never had another like it again."
The crazy part…. I still felt right where "IT" grabbed me, as if the tightness of its grip was still on me.
To say the least I have seen something that is not normal nor good. There are evil things in this world we can not explain nor understand but I know as true as the air in my lungs. Spirits are real, so is God and his Son's name is Jesus.

Prayers to everyone involved but to a degree someone or something should be blamed for this destruction. I simply won't listen to anyone that tries to tell me it was safe to live there after this kind of disaster. Your city should've known it wasn't habitable or easy to save anyone if they found themselves trapped there. Your state should've known and taken precautions with knowledge the area is very prone to Hurricanes. If you live near an area highly susceptible to any major natural disaster. I'd personally say you should research everything about that area and find out wether it's worth staying and risking everything over. Non of us, even together, can stop disasters of this magnitude. We can only sit them out and clean up afterwards. Landslides, Earthquakes, Tsunamis and more are far more powerful than Millions and Billions of Humans. Even with "technology" and "flood walls". It doesn't matter and we saw that with the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. We as humans need to be more aware of the dangers we put ourselves in. Especially when we're at the mercy of Earth itself.

I’m not amazed their accomplishing so much so fast. This Hurricane is also a test between Joe Biden and Ron DeSantis who likely could be the 2 running in 2024 for President of USA. They both say this is the time to put politics aside, but ultimately how can they?
Their actions surrounding this hurricane will be remembered and reshown if either were to drop the ball. It’s imperative they both bring their best leadership game to this event. The people and businesses of Florida are benefiting and that’s a good thing.

I think the authorities especially those from Sanibel Island need to stop saying the residents chose to stay. They weren't given enough warning or any shuttles in the bus lines shut down within 10 minutes of the order to evacuate. Ask anyone who managed to get off the island right before and the people that stayed behind and had to be rescued.
It will be covered in water soon. It is foolish to rebuild when Ian was only the first of the new superstorms generated by climate change. They aren't going to get smaller.
