The House Committee investigating the Capitol attack voted Thursday to subpoena Donald Trump in an extraordinary move seeking a direct confrontation with the former president accused of instigating the deadly Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection and leading attempts to subvert the 2020 election.
“The vast weight of the evidence so far has shown us that the central cause of Jan. 6 was one man, Donald Trump, who many others followed,” Vice Chairperson Liz Cheney, R-Wyoming, said.. “None of this would have happened without him. He was personally and substantially involved in all of it.
"We must seek the testimony under oath of Jan. 6's central player," Cheney said, adding that the committee had "sufficient" information to issue criminal referrals related to multiple figures in the panel's investigation. "We are obligated to seek answers from the man who set this all in motion."

The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected former President Donald Trump’s plea to step into the legal fight over the FBI search of his Florida estate.
A three-judge panel from the Atlanta-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit last month limited the special master’s review to the much larger tranche of non-classified documents. The judges, including two Trump appointees, sided with the Justice Department, which had argued there was no legal basis for the special master to conduct his own review of the classified records.

Even though I worked as an economist at the Stl Fed for most of my working days, I have had my fill with the stupidity of the Fed, so much so that it needs to be fundamental reformed, if not eliminated. An indeterminate fiat current is not workable. The currency has to be anchored by something, a monetary rule such as Friedman suggested, a hard metal or basket of metals or a basket of currencies or something other than a bunch of people in a room who think they know better than markets. Let markets determine interest rates, and get out of the way. All this bubble stuff will take care of itself. There may be bubbles in a particular commodity but nothing like recent bubbles feed by mindless Fed officials who don't seem to know basic economics. Powell doesn't even believe that money creation has economic effects. He needs to be replaced with a Milton Friedman or Meltzer look alike. Humm, are there any in existence these days?
