So that people think Russia is losing the war and now they are showing that russian soldiers are fleeing Ukraine. So, now people will think Russia is going to use nuclear weapons because their military is weak and this is the only way they can win this war. And now ukraine with the help of NATO countries is going to detonate a nuclear bomb in their own territory and then blame it on Russia. And most people will think Russia did it because they believe Russia is losing the war and this is the only option they have. If the dam is destroyed the Russian will only hurt themselves the river will swell down stream and make it very difficult for the Russians forces to cross it.
It only benefits Ukraine if the dam is blown because it will stop a major russian supply line. If Ukraine succeeds in blowing the dam they can easily blame it on Russian. Russia forces are actually defending the bridge if they wanted the bridge destroyed they would have been destroyed it by now while its under there control. Which would be stupid because they would cut there own supply lines
