What is with the obsession with Halloween? We can dress up in costumes WHENEVER, eat candy WHENEVER, but Halloween is not just about that the whole thing is based on fear, spookiness, death⌠and I can not wrap my head around WHY we celebrate that? And why we want kids to celebrate that? What is the obsession? Birthdays I get youâre celebrating life, thanksgiving youâre being thankful, Christmas youâre celebrating joy, family, giving and receiving gifts.. but Halloween serial killer movies, skeletons, spiders?
What is the appeal? Donât we have enough death doom and gloom everyday? Donât we live in enough fear in this country everyday? What is the obsession? Cosplay is awesome, candy is cool, but we all know thatâs not what âspooky seasonâ is about..
The whole thing is about fear and why we push fear so hard on our children is beyond me..

I think all the parents should keep the kids out of school for Halloween and have their own Halloween party elsewhere for the kids. Maybe that would send a message to the school if they have no children to teach I think they would notice that.
So many of the comments here are just silly. Nobody is saying or trying to cancel Halloween completely. The schools are basically just saying wait until after school to put on your costumes and start your celebrations. There's no reason kids need to be in their costumes all day long and/or at school since Halloween is literally a night time celebration not an all day one.

Pennsylvania schools teach canceling to be proper methods of promoting inclusion. That coming from a State where open drug use, chronic homelessness and zombie like behavior are acceptable examples of societal norms.

What is ironic is that I grew up in the most Christian rural town ever back in the 60's, and this town went all out for Halloween. We children loved it. The final night was a costume contest in the heart of downtown. Everyone participated. It's too bad that crazy paranoia has ruined this event for children.
