I live in the deep woods in northern cal. Wanted to buy a $250k house. Nobody would insure it, so California fair plan kicked in and wanted to charge over $500/mo just for fire insurance. Not seeing what's fair about that. Complete deal breaker.
No they are not. The State is trying but the Federal US Forest Service is garbage. They still use an antiquated “manage of the fire mentality” , and not aggressively allowing logging and forest clean up. They and their contractors make money off the fires like a giant ponzy scheme while polluting the atmosphere with months of smoke and burning homes and entire towns to the ground. They just dont care and always have an excuses to not fight their fires aggressively while providing for the safety of the communities involved.
