In the past four years, the use of speed cameras has gone up by 30%. More communities are adopting speed cameras, helped in part by federal dollars. New York City has some 2,000 cameras in 750 school zones, previously turned on just part of the day, but as of August, now photographing drivers 24/7. The goal is to reduce deaths and injuries, but these cameras fuel a new kind of road rage some say is unfair.

The highways are getting so unsafe with drivers that speed and weave thru traffic. I think cameras are drastically needed. I donโt want cops chasing aster these idiots.
If I had to listen to Ydanis for too long, I'd be enraged.
You can't make it straight through lights anymore, they're set to turn red and let each direction advance one more light only. It's irritating, especially when people aren't paying attention and driving as they should be. Cops do have quotas, so don't speed at the end of the month, and yes, pal, school zones are school zones 24/7, you're half of the problem when you don't even know the laws. I see people sit at red lights turning right which is completely legal, but they won't turn until it's green whether there's oncoming traffic or not, and then they wait until the other cars have fully stopped, like someone going 5 mph as they stop is suddenly going to shoot forward and hit them. Drive safe, but drive correctly, too; slow drivers cause plenty of accidents, too.
Just another cash cow milking machine.
Use speed cameras so police officers can spend more time on the street in their communities
Well when police don't enforce the road laws,they gotta find a way I guess but it amounts to……does every 5mph over driver really deserve a ticket? Officers use discretion when deciding to ticket drivers can a camera accomplish that? Nope. Plus uhm where's the accuseser in this case? A camera? Well,that's not a witness or a victim of a crime because a camera can't testify and answer questions.
So it sounds like it's an easy out for police to not enforce traffic laws,because they have so many more important things to do…like not catch criminals.

Imagine thinking these cameras have anything to do with saving life. Just more social credit score nonsense. Itโs not complicated.
Wait till the Robo-Cops are implemented, no criminal will be safe. ๐๐
If you use your own camera, you can extrapolate your own speed or even catch your speedometer. I do feel they should limit tickets to 10 MPH or more over and issue warnings in other cases.
The fact of the matter is that there are speed limits for a reason and people take advantage when there are no cops around. People constantly are going 15+ mph over near were I live & that's in a 25 mph zone, so it's a big deal.
